Pune, 13th October 2024: Employees deployed by the Indrani Balan Foundation and the Punit Balan Group (PBG) for vigilance and cleanliness at Sinhagad Fort rescued a young woman from an attempted suicide on Wednesday (October 9). The woman was handed over to the police, who are continuing their investigation.

The Indrani Balan Foundation and Punit Balan Group have assigned staff to maintain cleanliness and security at prominent locations, including Sinhagad Fort. On Wednesday, these employees were conducting routine vigilance when they noticed a distressed young woman arriving at the fort. Her behavior and speech raised concerns, prompting the staff to inquire further. However, she did not provide clear responses and began moving toward the Kalyan Darwaza.

Sensing something was wrong, the staff quickly alerted the Chandrarang Charitable Trust and other colleagues to monitor her movements closely. The woman eventually reached a citadel, where she spent an extended time on her phone, weeping, indicating she was contemplating suicide.

Thanks to the prompt action of the Balan Foundation employees, forest officials and the local police patil arrived at the scene just in time. The woman was safely detained, and authorities are now investigating the circumstances further.

The swift actions of the Indrani Balan Foundation and Punit Balan Group staff received praise from citizens at the fort, acknowledging their dedication to public safety.

PBG President Punit Balan commended the team, stating, “The presence of mind of our employees deployed at Sinhagad Fort saved the life of a young woman. Our objective in deploying these staff members is being realized. Their work is commendable, and I salute their alertness and thank them for their efforts in preventing a tragedy.”
