Pune: Villagers Set Audi Car On Fire In Outrage After Fatal Accident On Daund-Patas Road

Patas, 24th June 2023: A tragic incident occurred on the Patas to Daund road near Virobawadi, where a high-speed collision between a car and a two-wheeler resulted in the death of the two-wheeler rider. The incident further escalated when enraged villagers set the Audi car ablaze in response to the unfortunate event.

The deceased has been identified as Nehal Appasaheb Gawde, a 26-year-old resident of Patas-Virobawadi, Daund taluka of Pune District. Preliminary information suggests that Gawde was returning home on his two-wheeler after seeking blessings from the revered village deity, Shri Biroba Dev. The accident occurred when the speeding car collided with Gawde’s two-wheeler while traveling from the Patas direction towards Daund.

Gawde sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to them at the spot of the accident. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries, while one occupant of the car also sustained injuries. In an act of collective anger and grief, the villagers resorted to setting fire to the car, emphasizing their outrage at the loss of life in their community. Consequently, traffic on the Ashtavinayak route between Daund and Patas was temporarily halted.
