Pune, November 23, 2019: The officials from detection branch of Vimantal police station, Pune city police, have arrested two persons and seized two elephant tusks and car totally worth Rs 45 lakhs.

The arrested persons have been identified as Yahya Ahmed Khan (42) of Vashi, Navi Mumbai and Abhay Arvind Joshi (55) of Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Acting on a tip-off received by Police Sub Inspector Anandrao Pingle, a trap was laid on Sakorenagar road in Viman Nagar around 4:30 pm on Friday. At that time a car was found moving suspiciously.

According to police, the car was stopped and taken into custody. At that time they found two ivory, money measuring machine. After the forest department officials confirmed elephant ivory, an FIR was registered and the accused persons were arrested.

Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Sunil Fulari, DCP (Zone 4) Prasad Akkanouru, ACP (Yerwada division) Desai, Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar, Inspector (crime) Balwant Mandage supervised the investigation team which included PSI Pingle, and policemen Avinash Shewale, Ashok Atole, Ajay Kharade, Vishal Gade, Vishwanath Gone, Rahul More, Sanjay Adhari, Nana Karche, Prashant Kapure and Vinod Mahajan.
