Pune: Violent Clash Between Restaurant Operator and Customer Erupts in Chakan Over Food Parcel Dispute
Chakan, 24th April 2024: A dispute arose between a restaurant operator and a customer over the delivery of food parcels. Both parties engaged in physical altercations. Cases have been filed against each other in this matter. The incident took place behind the Hill Top Hotel in Chakan on Sunday (21st April) night.
Parvez Muhammad Shaikh (age 34, resident of Chakan) filed a complaint at Chakan Police Station. Accordingly, a case has been registered against Prachit Mahendra Dhumal (Rest. Peth, Ambegaon). According to the police, the complainant, Sheikh, went to Dhumal’s restaurant on Sunday night and asked for a food parcel. Dhumal allegedly abused him, stating, “You have not paid for the parcel.” Sheikh was then beaten and injured with a mutton spoon in the hotel.
Prachit Dhumal has also filed a complaint. Accordingly, a case has been registered against Parvez Mohammed Shaikh, Piyush Dhadge, and their friends. Parvez has been arrested by the police. According to the police, the accused beat the complainant with an iron rod and a wooden stick, questioning why the food parcel was not given to Parvez Shaikh.
Chakan police have registered cases against restaurant customers under IPC Sections 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951. They have also registered a case against the operator under IPC Sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951. Chakan Sub Inspector of Police Katkade and Police Constable Rengade are further investigating this matter.
