Pune: Wagholi Family Falls Victim to Neighbor’s Betrayal, Jewelry Worth Rs 23 Lakh Stolen

Wagholi, 17th January 2025: A shocking case of betrayal has emerged in Wagholi, where a family entrusted their house keys to their neighbors while traveling, only to return and find jewelry worth ₹23 lakh stolen. A case has been registered against the accused couple at the Wagholi police station.
The incident was reported by Gaurav Adarsh Gera, a resident of Abhilasha Society in Wagholi. According to the police, Gera and his family traveled to their native village in October. Before leaving, Gera handed over his house keys to a neighboring couple, asking them to water the plants during his absence.
When the family returned on November 19, they initially noticed nothing unusual. However, a few days later, while checking the cupboard, Gera discovered that jewelry worth ₹23 lakh was missing. Realizing the theft, he promptly reported the incident to the police.
Assistant Police Inspector Vinayak Ahire is leading the investigation. Further inquiries are underway to recover the stolen items and verify the involvement of the accused neighbors.
