Pune: Wagholi Housing Societies Bring Civic Problems to PMC’s Doorstep

Wagholi, 28th January 2025: The Wagholi Housing Societies Association (WHSA) held a crucial meeting on Monday with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Additional Commissioner (Estate) Prithviraj B.P. to address several long-standing issues affecting the Wagholi area. During the discussion, Team WHSA presented a detailed list of unresolved problems, resulting in constructive dialogue and actionable steps for some of the pressing concerns.
Speaking about the meeting, a WHSA representative said, “We had a fruitful conversation with Additional Commissioner Prithviraj, who assured us of immediate action on certain key issues. We are hopeful that this will bring much-needed relief to Wagholi residents.”
Key Issues Discussed and Outcomes:
Defective Street Lights on Nagar Highway: WHSA raised concerns about faulty street lights along Nagar Highway, which have been causing inconvenience and safety issues. Additional Commissioner Prithviraj assured the association that the defective lights would be repaired within the next 8–10 days.
Illegal Encroachments on Roads: Recent encroachments along Pune-Nagar Road and internal roads in Wagholi were highlighted. Additional Commissioner Prithviraj confirmed that his office would investigate these encroachments and take necessary action to curb illegal structures.
Sewage Disposal and Drainage Problems: The open disposal of sewage on roads and inadequate drainage infrastructure were discussed in detail. The Additional Commissioner acknowledged the need for comprehensive planning and assured WHSA that drainage solutions would be integrated with the finalization of the Development Plan (DP) for Wagholi.
Illegal Hoardings on Nagar Road: WHSA pointed out the issue of unauthorized hoardings along Nagar Road. According to the Additional Commissioner, 90% of illegal hoardings have already been removed, and future drives will focus on addressing any remaining violations.
Pending Property Tax Bills: Residents of Wagholi who have received occupation certificates but have not yet been issued property tax bills are facing uncertainty. The Additional Commissioner assured that the generation of outstanding tax bills would be prioritized and processed soon.
The association plans to monitor progress and continue its dialogue with PMC to ensure that Wagholi receives the attention it deserves. For residents, these developments signal a step toward improved living conditions and better infrastructure in the rapidly growing locality.
