Pune: Wakad Police Arrest Two Men Who Duped 255 Girls Through Matrimonial Website

Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th January 2022: The officials from Wakad police station have nabbed two men who lured young women into a love trap then sexually abused and duped them of lakhs of rupees.
Police said that the accused impersonated as high ranking officials of the central government to cheat the young women in Pune, Gurugram and Bengaluru. Valuables worth Rs 75 lakh have been seized from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Nishant Rameshchandra Nandwana (33), a native of Kishanganj in Baran district of Rajasthan and Vishal Harshad Sharma (33) of Kota in Rajasthan. Both the accused used to target girls through the jeevansaathi matrimonial website.
Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash said that preliminary investigation has revealed that they have cheated a total of 255 girls from Pune, Bengaluru and Gurgaon. The girls have been cheated for Rs 1.5 crore. A judicial magistrate court has remanded them to police custody till January 28 for further investigation.
According to the police, a highly educated girl recently registered an FIR with Wakad police station against one of the accused of financial fraud and sexual harassment. The complainant told police that she was raped in a car by the accused who later took Rs five lakh from her. The accused had pretended to be a deputy director in the agriculture ministry of the central government.
Another woman lodged a complaint against his accomplice stating he impersonated as a chief project manager with the central public works department. He had taken Rs three lakh from her for a project.
As per the orders of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Senior police inspector Dr Vivek Mugalikar, in-charge of Wakad police station, registered FIRs in both cases and began the investigation. A team led by Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Jadhav nabbed the accused from Bengaluru where they were living by changing names in Sobha Palladian in Marathahalli area of Bengaluru.
“Accused Nishant and Vishal both used to approach young women through the matrimonial website. After chatting on phone calls, they would come to meet the girls in expensive cars to further gain their trust. After cheating the girls, they would discontinue using that phone numbers. In Pune, they lived in Baner area”, Inspector Muglikar said.
The accused Nishant used different names in different cities like using fake name Adhitansh Agnihotri in Pune, Abhay Kashyap in Bengaluru and Adhav Agnihotri in Gurgaon.
The police investigation has revealed that the accused Sharma used to cheat young women in Pune under the names of Ashwik Shukla, Atharvan Tiwari in Bengaluru and Avyagriha Shukla, Rudransh Shukla, Devansh Shukla or Achaitya Shukla in Gurgaon.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Anand Bhoite said, “Till now we have come to know that the accused have cheated 91 girls in Pune, 142 in Bengaluru and 22 in Gurgaon. Some more cases are being registered in different cities. There are already cases of cheating and rape against the accused registered in Gurugram (Gurgaon).”
Police have appealed to girls cheated by the accused to contact on phone numbers 9422008804 or 9823865502.
The investigation is being carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde, DCP Bhoite and ACP Shrikant Disley. The team includes Inspectors Santosh Patil, Ramchandra Ghadge, API SM Patil, Abhijeet Jadhav, Balaji Thakur, PSI Ganesh Torgal, Sangeeta Gode, and police personnel Deepak Bhosale, Vikram Kudal, Vandu Gire, Bhaskar Bharti, Kaunteya Kharade, Sham Baba, Kalpesh Patil, Dattatraya Ingle, Bibhishan Kanherkar, Babajan Inamdar, Bapusaheb Dhumal, Deepak Sable, Vijay Gambhire, Pramod Kadam, Atish Jadhav, Atik Sheikh, Prashant Gilbile, Rajendra Kale, Vikrant Chavan, Ajay Falle, Deva Waghmare, Santosh Mahajan, and Nutan Konde.
