Pune Wakes Up to Chilly Mornings as Winter Makes a Comeback; IMD Predicts Further 1-2°C Drop

Pune, 3rd January 2025: The minimum temperature in Pune has dropped again in recent days, leading to increased cold weather. The chill is now noticeable during mornings, evenings, and nights, ending the brief respite Punekars had experienced. Yesterday, a temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Pune.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the minimum temperature will remain low for the next couple of days, offering no relief from the cold. The cold spell in Pune began last month, with minimum temperatures dropping as low as 6 degrees Celsius in some parts of the city. Following that, temperatures rose to around 18 degrees, and towards the end of the month, cloudy conditions and even some rain resulted in humid weather, providing temporary relief from the cold.
However, as the new year begins, the cold has returned. Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13.7 degrees Celsius, with temperatures across the district remaining below 14 degrees.
The sudden drop in temperature has brought back the winter chill, particularly affecting areas like Haveli, NDA, Pashan, Malin, and Shivajinagar. The IMD has forecast dry weather and clear skies for the next two days, with a possibility of a further drop of 1°C to 2°C in minimum temperatures, accompanied by light fog in the mornings.
