Pune: Wanowrie Police Arrests Mobile Snatcher, Suspected to be Part of Inter-State Gang

Wanowrie, 3rd March 2023: A 22-year-old man has been arrested by Wanowrie police station for snatching mobile phones in broad daylight. The police have seized two mobile phones and a two-wheeler worth Rs. 78,000 from him.

The accused, identified as Sharad Manjunath, hails from Hosmane Bhadravati in Karnataka and is suspected to be a part of an inter-state mobile phone theft gang.

The incident of mobile theft took place on March 1 in Lullanagar. The police officials Sachin Pawar and Utreshwar Dhas received a tip-off about the accused’s whereabouts, and the team of Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Bhosle laid a trap and detained Sharad. Two mobiles and a two-wheeler were seized from him.

According to the Wanowrie police, Sharad is a notorious criminal in Karnataka, with various types of crimes registered against him. They also suspect that he is a part of a gang that steals mobile phones from citizens in Pune. An investigation is underway to verify the same.
