Pune: Fire At Daund Railway Station Damages Empty Coach
Daund, 3rd March 2023: An empty box in a siding rack at Daund railway station has suffered heavy damage due to a fire. There was a container rack nearby but the fire was extinguished before it can spread any further.
A rack of passenger coaches is placed on the siding on the railway station next to platform number six of the railway station on the Pune side. One of the coaches, which has a reserved seat for disabled, freight, and railway guard room together, caught fire.
As soon as the fire was reported, the railway system was alerted and the emergency siren was played twice. Further calamity was avoided as the fire was extinguished with the help of fire brigade of Daund Municipality.
Due to the fire, all the materials including electrical equipment in the guard compartment were burnt. The garbage from the railway station has been dumped in and around the said rack. Apart from that, there is a constant risk of fire as the bushes are overgrown.
