Pune Warms Up, North Maharashtra Faces Season’s Chill

Pune, 23rd January 2024: The state of Maharashtra is experiencing diverse temperature patterns as partly cloudy weather impacts the region. Pune and its surrounding areas witnessed a rise in temperature, while North Maharashtra grapples with cold weather conditions. Jalgaon reported the lowest minimum temperature in the state at nine degrees Celsius, while Pune recorded a minimum of 12.1 degrees Celsius.

In North India, the cold spell persists, with ). Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are facing minimum temperatures ranging from three to seven degrees. A combination of fog and cold wave continues to affect the northern part of the country.

Cyclonic winds are sweeping across North Konkan and nearby areas at an altitude of 1.5 km above sea level. A low-pressure belt extends from south interior Karnataka to Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh, resulting in cloudy weather in the state. Vidarbha, in particular, is experiencing conditions conducive to isolated rain. North Maharashtra witnessed a drop in temperature, with the season’s lowest recorded at the College of Agriculture in Dhule.

Earlier this month, on January 16, the Wheat Research Center at Niphad recorded a temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius. On Monday, Niphad reported 8.8 degrees, while Jalgaon recorded nine degrees. The rest of the state is experiencing minimum temperatures ranging between 10 and 18 degrees Celsius. The decreasing minimum temperature raises the likelihood of hail in the state.
