Pune: Water Supply Disrupted In Katraj For Three Consecutive Days
Katraj, 21st January 2023: A closure was taken by the Water Supply Department on Thursday for the work of replacing the 1296 mm diameter line from Katraj Chowk. However, as this work was not completed in one day on Thursday, it was continued on Friday as well. Due to this, the water supply was disrupted and the residents of the Katraj-Kondhwa road area were affected.
Due to this one-day closure, not only on Thursday, and Friday but also on Saturday, the water supply was not smooth in some areas. Water supply was interrupted on the second and third day in Katraj, Sukhsagarnagar, Sainagar, Kondhwa Road, Rajas Society, Tilekarnagar, Shiv Shambhu Nagar, and other areas in the area.
Residents said that there was no water in the Khandoba temple area for two days and the people were in dire straits.
Ganga Ocean Society secretary Ganesh Nigde expected the water to arrive at least by Friday afternoon. However, it is said that due to non-supply of water, they have faced a lot of trouble.
Arvind More, president of Silver Oak Society, has demanded that the Water Supply Department of the Municipal Corporation should pay attention to this and reduce the trouble caused for three-four consecutive days in the name of closure.
Abhijeet Shah, Three Jewels Society said that PMC had ordered a stop to the water supply on Thursday. But there will be no water supply even on Friday, people should have been informed about this. Due to this mismanagement, no water planning could be done. Drinking water tankers were not provided by the Municipal Corporation.
Nitin Khude, Deputy Engineer, Water Supply Department said, “Closure was taken for replacement of 1296 mm diameter line from Katraj Chowk. However, as this work was huge, it was not completed in one day. Due to this, the water supply was disrupted. However, we completed the work on Friday evening.”
Shantilal Kolekar, Branch Engineer, Water Supply Department said, “Closure was taken by the Equal Water Supply Department on Thursday. But this situation arose as their work was not completed in one day. After completing the work on Friday, we restored the water supply on Saturday.”
