Pune, 6th February 6, 2025: Residents of Vadgaon Sheri assembly constituency have been facing an ongoing water supply issue, with many alleging that the water shortage is being deliberately created in the area following the recent assembly elections. Citizens in the affected areas claim that the water pressure has been consistently low for the past three months, leading to incomplete filling of water tanks.

Local MLA Bapusaheb Pathare has expressed concerns over the issue, stating that despite repeated follow-ups with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the problem remains unresolved. He further mentioned that he plans to escalate the matter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, as the situation continues to worsen.

The residents are frustrated, particularly because water tanks in the area are not being filled to capacity, despite the availability of a large volume of water in the dams supplying the city. The issue is further compounded by allegations that the Municipal Corporation may be withholding water supply as a form of political retaliation, since the constituency is represented by an opposition party MLA.

“We are being supplied 71 MLD of water in the Vadgaon Sheri area through 29 water tanks, with water sourced from the Lashkar Water Supply Water Center and Bhama Askhed Dam. However, citizens are still not receiving adequate water supply,” said a local resident. “Many societies have been forced to purchase water on their own because the water they receive is insufficient.”

The issue was expected to improve after the Bhama Askhed project was launched, but residents claim there has been no change. According to MLA Pathare, despite several attempts to resolve the problem, the Municipal Corporation has not taken adequate action, leaving citizens to suffer.

“There seems to be a political motive behind this. After the election results, it has become increasingly difficult to secure basic services like water for our constituency,” Pathare remarked. “If this issue is not resolved soon, I will be taking the matter to Chief Minister Fadnavis, along with Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, to demand action.”
