Pune, 12th October 2025: With the monsoon having withdrawn from parts of Maharashtra, Pune is currently experiencing a brief spell of summer-like heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the rain break will continue for the next four to five days, although the monsoon may return to Pune district within 24 to 48 hours.

On Saturday, October 11, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.4 degrees Celsius. While the morning began with some cloud cover, offering a brief respite, the skies cleared by afternoon, intensifying the heat. Citizens stepping out for Diwali shopping on the holiday faced the scorching sun, with many using hats, scarves, dupattas, or umbrellas for protection.

“The monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of the state, and the humidity in the air has decreased. Monsoon winds have also weakened. Due to these factors, there is no possibility of rain in Pune district for the next four to five days,” said Dr. S. D. Sanap, Scientist ‘D’ at the India Meteorological Department, Pune.

The IMD predicts that Pune’s maximum temperature will remain stable at 33 degrees Celsius on Sunday and Monday, with a minimum of around 19 degrees Celsius. Skies are expected to be mostly clear, with occasional partial cloud cover in the afternoons and evenings. From Tuesday, October 14, a slight dip in maximum temperatures is expected, bringing the mercury down to 31 degrees Celsius over the following four days.

With Diwali shopping in full swing, Punekars are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat as the city braces for a warm spell over the next week.
