Pune, 23rd January 2023: In a notice of termination sent on 16th January, Wipro has terminated the jobs of over 450 employees with a 30-day prior notice. The notice sent to the employees states that they have failed their additional technical training course, acquiring less than 40% – the passing score.
“As you may be aware, that as per the Offer Letter, either party may terminate the employment by providing 30 days’ prior notice to the other party. Pursuant to the Offer Letter, we hereby wish to terminate your employment with us by serving upon you the notice of termination,” the notice sent to the employees stated.
“Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) strongly condemns the unethical layoffs done by Wipro. The employees who were given offer letters on and before February 2022 and were awaiting the onboarding date have been sent an email that their last working day is 20th January 2022. For a year, these employees struggled to join the company despite clearing interviews, training, assessments, and internships. The company has not paid a single rupee to these employees and fired them illegally. We will be submitting a complaint to the Labour Authorities to conduct an enquiry,” said Harpreet Singh Saluja of NITES.
