Pune, 4th November 2024: A total of 60 fire incidents were reported in Pune during this year’s Diwali celebrations, with most incidents being linked to firecrackers. No serious injuries were reported.

Fire incidents are common during Diwali, both in the city and its suburbs, and this year was no exception. In an effort to minimize such incidents, the Pune fire brigade launched a safety campaign titled ‘Safe Diwali, Happy Diwali.’ Firefighters used loudspeakers to spread safety awareness and urge citizens to celebrate Diwali responsibly.

The majority of fire incidents occurred on Lakshmi Puja, which was celebrated on Friday, November 1. Between 7 p.m. and midnight, 36 fires were reported across various parts of the city. On Padwa, there were 14 fire incidents, and four more were reported on Bhaubeej, all caused by firecrackers.

Since the start of Diwali, the total number of fire incidents in Pune and the surrounding areas reached 60. Despite the spike in cases, the fire brigade’s main control room confirmed that no one was injured in these incidents.
