Pune, 5th December 2024: The city of Pune has been gripped by a spate of violent crimes, with five murders reported in the past 48 hours. The incidents, occurring across different areas, have raised serious concerns about law and order. While the terror of the notorious “Koyta Gang” continues to loom, an alarming increase in murder cases has added to the city’s distress.

In one incident, an 18-year-old youth was brutally assaulted by four individuals in the Narhe area, within the limits of Sinhagad Road Police Station. The attack stemmed from allegations of the victim stealing petrol from a car. Despite receiving medical attention, the youth succumbed to his injuries.

A separate murder occurred on Tuesday night, also within the Sinhagad Road Police Station limits, where three minors were involved in the fatal attack on another youth.

In the Wanwadi area, a minor was stabbed to death in yet another grim incident of youth violence, while a fourth case was reported in Kondhwa, where a man was killed after being struck on the head with a cement block.

The fifth murder occurred in Wagholi, where Raju Lohar (46), a resident of Darekar Vasti, was killed following an argument. According to police reports, an altercation erupted between Raju and a minor after consuming alcohol. The argument escalated, leading the minor to fatally strike Raju with a stone on his chest. The victim’s son, Raj Raju Lohar (28), has lodged a complaint.

Senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, visited the scene in Wagholi. Investigations into all five cases are ongoing.

These consecutive incidents have sparked concerns over the increasing prevalence of violent crimes in Pune, urging the authorities to step up measures to ensure public safety.
