Narhe, 30th April 2024: In an accident near Bhumkar Bridge on Katraj-Dehu Road bypass, a 42-year-old woman identified as Sheetal Siddharam Patil and her 6-year-old granddaughter, Aboli Suraj Shetke, were fatally run over by a truck while waiting for a bus around 11:30 pm on Saturday.

The Sinhagad Road police confirmed the identities of the victims. Sheetal’s son, Rohan (19), filed a police report regarding the incident. The driver of the truck, hailing from Bidar, Karnataka, has been arrested.

Initial investigations suggest that the truck, transporting auto spare parts from Mumbai to Bidar, was descending the slope of Navale bridge en route to Bhumkar bridge when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident.

Assistant Inspector Sameer Chavan of the Sinhagad Road police stated, “The driver asserted that the truck’s brakes failed to engage when he attempted to use them.”
