Pune: Woman Among 7 Arrested for Stealing Gold Ornaments from People at Vijaystambh in Koregaon Bhima

Wagholi, 4th January 2024: Lonikand police have successfully dismantled a gang involved in stealing gold chains from the people during the Vijaystambha felicitation ceremony at Bhima Koregaon on 1st January. Seven individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with this case.

The arrested suspects are identified as Aruna Kishan Gaikwad (40 years old, resident of Nurani Galli, Jamkhed, Dist. Ahmednagar), Rishikesh Bandu Jadhav (22 years old, resident of Gandhinagar, Noor Colony, Beed), Anil Uttam Pawar (22 years old, resident of Navgan Rajuri, Dist. Beed), Sachin Shrimant Gunjal (35 years old, resident of Khadak Deola, Dist. Beed), Shankar Sarjerao Gaekwad (34 years old, resident of Nalvandi Naka, Dist. Beed), Milind Vasant Shinde (20 years old, resident of Shatabdinagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), and Nitesh Rameshrao Boghankar (34 years old, resident of Pimpalgaon, district Amravati).

Police received complaints about the theft of ornaments from the necks of pilgrims entering buses in the Perne Phata area. Promptly launching an investigation, the Lonikand police apprehended the seven suspects. The court has ordered the accused to remain in police custody until Friday (January 5).

The action was taken under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingde of Lonikand Police Station, with Assistant Inspectors Ravindra Godse, Gajanan Jadhav, and Shirish Bhalerao leading the investigation.
