Hinjawadi, 4th January 2024: A 32-year-old woman and her friend have been booked by Pimpri Chinchwad police for allegedly abusing and slapping the owner of a crossover sports utility vehicle (SUV) following a collision with the SUV. The incident occurred on Monday night on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass in Hinjawadi, where the woman’s friend also issued threats of dire consequences to the SUV owner and his friend.

The SUV owner’s friend, an employee of a multinational food and beverage products company based in Hinjawadi, filed a complaint against the woman and her friend. In response, the woman filed a complaint accusing the other duo of outraging her modesty.

Assistant Inspector Ganesh Kharge from the Hinjawadi police station reported that, according to the SUV owner’s friend, they were heading towards Chandni Chowk from Hinjawadi after work when a car in front of them abruptly stopped on the bypass. This forced the complainant to apply his brakes, and the woman, unable to control her vehicle, collided with the rear of the SUV.

As the complainant and his friend inspected the damage to their vehicle, the woman exited her car and began verbally abusing them. She also allegedly slapped the complainant’s friend. The complainant further stated that the woman’s friend issued threats of dire consequences to him and his friend.

Kharge stated, “We have booked the woman and her friend under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), besides relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).”
