Pune 30th Sept 2023: In a shocking incident reported in Lonavala, the Pune Rural Police have booked ten people including women, minor boys and two men for abducting and sexually assaulting a woman from outside Lonavala Railway Station. The accused had also abducted two children from the same premises. The accused kept them tied inside a house with a chain since the first week of September and assaulted them on multiple occasions.
The incident came to light after the Local Crime Branch unit of Pune Rural Police received information about a gang looting tourists in Lonavala. The police had also received information about the abduction of a woman and two children. Accordingly, the police team arrested two people identified as Raj Siddheshwar Shinde (25) and Dnyaneshwar Rambhau Lokare (41), both residents of Hanuman Tekdi area of Kusgaon village of Maval.
It was revealed that the accused were involved in looting tourists off their mobile phones and other belongings from the area around Sahara Bridge in Lonavala by threatening them with a knife and axe. Two such incidents were revealed in which the FIRs were already registered by the victims.
Further investigation revealed shocking information as the accused, who also had several other men, women and minor boys in their gang had abducted a woman and two children including a girl and boy from outside the Lonavala Railway Station premises in the first week of September with the help of one of the accused Raj Shinde’s wife Kareena alias Mahi Shinde.
The woman was tied with a chain inside the house and was sexually assaulted by the accused on multiple occasions. She was beaten with an iron rod and forced to do household works. The police officials contacted the victim’s mother and a case under relevant sections including rape has been registered at Lonavala City Police Station. The woman and children have been rescued by the police.
The police have found involvement of a total of ten people in the case including five men, three women and two minor boys. Two of the accused men have been arrested and sent to police custody while the minor boys have been sent to the rehabilitation center and the police have launched a search for the remaining six accused.
