Somwar Peth, 14th June 2024: A shocking incident has emerged in Pune where a woman went to a Police Station to report a rape, only to be physically assaulted herself. The incident took place at the Samarth Police Station, resulting in the registration of a case against 9 individuals, including a Police Sub Inspector (PSI).

The accused individuals named in the case are PSI Arjun Divekar, Police Constables Nilam Karpe, Maya Gadekar, and Yogita Afale, along with two other women constables. Additionally, Akshay Awate (31 years old, resident of Somwar Peth), Aditya Gautam (30 years old, resident of Kasba Peth), and Sujit Pujari (resident of Ambegaon Budruk) are also included in the case. The complaint lodged at the Samarth Police Station accuses the PSI and the other individuals of molestation, assault, and threats.

The complainant had initially filed a rape complaint against Sujit Pujari and Aditya Gautam in March 2023, alleging that her husband, Awate, had coerced her into prostitution. A case had been registered against the accused by the Hadapsar Police. The accused individuals, enraged by the police complaint, summoned the woman to the Samarth Police Station on 23rd March 2023. There, the woman was verbally abused and threatened by her husband, Akshay, along with his associates Pujari and Gautam. The complainant reported being physically assaulted by female police officers and a PSI.

Furthermore, the complainant accused Pujari and Gautam of being active members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and affiliated with a corporator from Kasba Peth. She alleged that they had threatened her and even spat on her. Following her recent complaint, the authorities have opened an investigation into the matter, with Assistant Police Inspector Dadasaheb Patil leading the inquiry.
