Pune: Woman Attacked After Declining To Decorate For Ganpati Festival

Pune, 4th September 2022: A woman in the Wadgaon Budruk region refused to decorate her home for Ganesha Chaturthi, because of which her aggressive husband and mother-in-law violently assaulted her with an iron rod.

The victim, a 31-year-old woman, suffered severe nasal injuries. The doctor has urged her to have plastic surgery.

 

A case has been filed against her husband and mother-in-law as a result of her complaint. The woman and her husband got into a fight, according to the police, over decorative work. The victim and her two children started to flee towards her mother’s house as the argument got more heated. Her husband then struck her with an iron rod. She was taken to the hospital after suffering severe injuries. The husband works in the construction industry, and the pair has been married for ten years.

“A case has been registered at Sinhagad Road police station under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 498 (a) (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” police sub inspector (PSI) Kishori Sable said.
