Pune: Woman Dead, Another Injured in Katraj-Navale Bridge Road Accident; Tempo Driver Detained

Katraj, 4th May 2025: A fatal accident took place on the busy Katraj Chowk to Navale Bridge highway on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of a 49-year-old woman and injuring another.
According to police, the incident occurred around 1:30 pm on the road heading from Katraj to Navale Bridge, when an Eicher tempo (MH 16 CC 4345) collided with a two-wheeler (MH 12 SP 1269).
The scooty rider, identified as Lahubai Ashruba Waghmare, a resident of Waghjai Nagar in Ambegaon Khurd, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Bharti Hospital, where she died during treatment. A pillion rider, 33-year-old Priyanka Raut, sustained a leg fracture and is currently undergoing medical care.
Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine of Ambegaon Police Station said, “We have taken the tempo driver, Nilesh Mahadev Nandgude, 38, a resident of Masobachi Wadi, Indapur, into custody. He has been sent for medical examination, and further investigation is underway.”
Both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized and are currently in police custody as part of the legal process.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision.
