Pune: Woman Duped Of Rs 8.5 Lakh With Promise Of Job In A Big Bank

Pune, 16th July 2022: A 33-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with Pune city police stating that she was cheated of Rs 8.5 lakh under the pretext of helping her get a job in a big bank.

As per the FIR registered with Dattawadi police station, the complainant was looking for a job, and two unknown women contacted her on phone taking advantage of that. The accused women introduced themselves as Shweta and Ridhima over the phone and told the complainant that they can provide her with a job in Axis Bank.

They also asked the complainant to pay them money on Google Pay or account citing various reasons like registration, refund process, joining letter, salary deposit, bank agreement, etc. The complainant also paid as much as Ra 8 lakh 40 thousand in the thought of getting a job in a big bank.

However, when she realised that she had been cheated without actually getting any job, she refused to pay further. The accused called the woman and threatened that “If she does not pay the money, they will ruin her life”.

Hence, the frightened woman immediately complained about this. Police Inspector Vijay Khomane is further investigating the case.
