Pune: Woman Falls Victim To PAN Card Scam, Loses Rs 3.98 Lakh
Sangvi, 1st November 2023: In a fraudulent scheme involving a request to update her PAN card, a woman had her confidential information exploited, resulting in a deduction of Rs 3.98 lakhs from her account. This incident took place on the night of October 5 in Pimple Gurav through online means.
A 20-year-old woman has reported the incident to the Sangvi police station, leading to the registration of a case against the individual associated with the mobile number 9441490201.
As per the police account, the complainant received a message while at home, instructing her to update her PAN card. Upon opening the message, she encountered a link. Clicking on the link redirected her to the Axis Bank’s homepage. The message then requested the PAN card and Aadhaar card numbers.
Subsequently, after providing the information, she received a message claiming that the information had not been submitted. Following this, a total of Rs 3,98,933 was withdrawn from the complainant’s bank account in two transactions. The Sangvi police are currently investigating the matter.
