Pune: Woman Forced To Live Under The Staircase Of The House For Three Days By In-Laws, Dies By Suicide
Pune 30th August 2023: In a shocking incident reported in the Ravivar Peth area of the city, a 42-year-old woman has died by suicide after her in-laws forced her to live under the staircase of the hours for three days. The police have booked the woman’s husband and in-laws in the case.
According to police, the deceased identified as Sulabha Surendra Pujari (42), a resident of Vaishnav Apartment of Ravivar Peth area of the city died by suicide by hanging herself in the premises of her house. The woman’s brother has lodged a complaint with Faraskhana Police station in the matter. He has alleged in the complaint that the deceased woman’s husband and in-laws forced her to live under the staircase of the house for three days.
He alleged that the deceased was not allowed entry inside the house by her in-laws and was forced to sleep under the staircase for three days. Due to continous harassment over property issues, she died by suicide by hanging herself to a window duct of the house, the complainant stated in his complaint.
The police have booked the deceased woman’s husband and in-laws under sections 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
