Pune: Woman Officer Cheated of 76 Thousand Rupees in Online Shopping App Scam
Pune, 5th August 2023: A female officer working in the Defense Accounts Department fell victim to a cyber scam, losing a total of 76 thousand rupees.
The fraudulent activity involved exploiting a shopping app and falsely promising rewards. The victim has registered a formal complaint at the Wanwadi police station.
Police have revealed that the cybercriminal posed as a representative of the shopping app, deceitfully enticing the woman with the prospect of receiving a reward. As a result, the victim was coerced into transferring a sum of 76 thousand rupees at different intervals.
