Pune, 21st March 2022: Women police officers have been directed to investigate and prosecute cases of atrocities against women for the purpose of giving a better understanding of the dreadfulness committed against them and to strengthen the case against the accused. However, it is seen that only women police officers are doing injustice to women.

A shocking case has come to light in which a woman police sub-inspector (PSI) took Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 10 lakh via cheque after going directly to the home of the person concerned, forcing them to compromise on the rape complaint. After getting the information regarding the incident, the Additional Commissioner of Police (East region) has suspended PSI Mohini Dongre.

While the senior police officer was investigating the case of child sexual abuse and had no authority, the woman police sub-inspector conducted a cross-examination and demanded Rs 1 lakh from the lodge owner’s witness.

The investigation into the complaint acquired by the police in this regard has revealed a shocking type of crime against women. Although it was alleged that the video went viral during a complaint of abuse against a minor girl, it did not contain a section of the Information Technology Act. Also, she gave misleading information to the senior police inspector. Along with this, the accused was informed of the crime and given an understanding. Therefore, the accused was given an opportunity to get pre-arrest bail in court.

In another case, a woman had lodged a complaint at the Vimantal police station. While the complaint was not coming under Dongre’s jurisdiction (as she was posted with Yerwada police station), she still interrogated the complainant. On January 7, Dongre told the man that a woman had lodged a complaint against him, alleging that she had been raped from time to time. The man was then forced by Dongre to compromise with the complainant. After that Dongre went to the home of the person concerned and forcibly took Rs 5 lakh in cash and a bearer cheque of Rs 10 lakh. After all, this happened, the person concerned had complained about Sub-Inspector Dongre with a senior police officer.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that Dongre had committed misconduct. Dongre had also filed a charge sheet in another child sexual abuse case after 87 days instead of 60.
