Pune: Woman Software Engineer Duped Of Rs 12 Lakh Through Matrimony Website

Pune, 26th July 2022: A young software engineer who registered for marriage on the Jeevansaathi.com matrimony site has been extorted Rs 11 lakh 16 thousand. Vimantal Police station has registered a case against unknown mobile phone holders in this case which happened from June 24, 2022, till today (July 26).

A 29-year-old software engineer has filed a complaint in this matter. This young lady is staying in Viman Nagar. She had registered on the matrimony site Jeevansaathi.com. While checking the profiles of youths, she saw the profile of the accused youth.

The young man then sent her a message. After that, they both started talking on WhatsApp. The accused called the girl on WhatsApp and said that he was ready to get married and also sent an expensive gift from the Netherlands as an omen for the marriage.

Eight days after that, this girl received a phone call stating that the call was from the income tax department and was told that she will have to pay tax for the gift from the Netherlands. The young woman has paid Rs 11 lakh 16 thousand till date on different accounts given by them.

After realising that she was cheated, she lodged a complaint with Pune police. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Dhaware.
