Pune, 26th February 2023: A woman who fractured her leg while climbing Sinhagad fort was safely rescued by forest department security guards and youth workers from Atkarwadi. The incident occurred in the morning while the woman was on a walking exercise with her husband, friends, and family. Her foot slipped on a stone, resulting in a fractured leg, making it impossible for her to walk or stand.

The narrow trail with many twists, slopes, and deep trails posed a significant challenge for the woman’s rescue. However, villagers selling lemon syrup along the trail informed Ranganath Peder and Kisan alias Dada Peder in Atkarwadi, who in turn alerted the Forest Department. Senior officers were also informed of the situation.

Forest Guard Balasaheb Jeevde coordinated the rescue operation, and along with ex-upsarpanch Kisan alias Dada Peder and youth activists of Jai Bhawani Mitra Mandal in Atkarwadi, Mahesh Sambre, Yogesh Sangle, Sachin Bhondekar, Sachin Peder, Nilesh Sangle, Nikhil Ranjane, Karan Misal Kailas Sangle, Omkar Panhalkar, Popat Bhondekar, Amol Pawar, and Umesh Supekar, brought the woman safely down on a stretcher.

The rescue was not an easy feat as the trail is difficult to navigate alone, and bringing the patient down from the stretcher required a significant effort. However, the locals’ timely and coordinated efforts made the rescue successful. The woman and her husband expressed their gratitude towards the Forest Department and the youth activists for their support.
