Pune: Woman Techie Duped Of Rs 73.59 Lakh By Tinder App Friend Who Promised To Marry Her

Wakad, 15th October 2021: A woman software engineer was cheated of Rs 73.59 lakh by her Tinder App friend who promised to marry her and settled down in India.

Based on her complaint, Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police has registered an FIR against the man who identified himself as Sidharth Ravi. The incident took place between June and July of this year.

According to police, the woman who works with a leading MNC in Pune had befriended the accused on the Tinder dating app. The accused gave her another WhatsApp number telling her that his name was Geni Ravi. He gained the complainant’s trust and proposed to her for marriage.

The accused sent costly gift items to her. Later, he told her that he had come to India with Rs one crore, but was caught by the Customs department. He made the woman pay Rs 73.59 lakh as a penalty, GST and other taxes.

After realising that she has been cheated, she approached the police. Police Sub Inspector AB Jagtap is further investigating the case.
