Pune: Yerawada Restaurant Owner Dies Following Brutal Attack Near Agrasen High School

Yerawada, 22nd April 2024: At 6 PM on Thursday (18th April), a shocking incident unfolded near Yerawada Agrasen High School, where Vicky Raju Chandaliya, the owner of a restaurant Vr4U Food Corner, was brutally attacked. He sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, followed by a vicious assault to the head by the assailants, leaving him critically injured. Swiftly, Vicky was rushed to Sassoon Hospital for urgent medical care. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night, the 20th. His body was transported to Jai Jawannagar, his residential area, on Sunday afternoon, igniting tension in the locality.

According to police reports, a group of suspected individuals, including Akash Chandaliya, Akshay Chandaliya, Abhishek Chandaliya, Sandesh Jadhav, Sushant Kamble, and Sanket Taru, entered a restaurant opposite Agrasen High School on Thursday. They demanded money from Vicky, the hotel owner. When Vicky refused, Akash Chandaliya drew a pistol and fired three shots at him. One bullet struck Vicky in the abdomen, causing severe injury, while he was also assaulted on the head with a weapon by Akash and his accomplices. Vicky was rushed to Sassoon Hospital for treatment, where he passed away on Saturday night while undergoing medical care.

Notably, Akash Chandaliya had been released from Yerawada Jail six months ago, where he had served a sentence for double murder. Akash and Vicky shared a childhood friendship. Akash had warned Vicky that if he wanted to continue running the hotel, he would need to make payments. Vicky complained to the Yerawada Police Station, but it was disregarded. Akash, accompanied by his associates, forcibly entered the restaurant and shot Vicky when he refused to comply with the payment demand. Following the incident, the police seized two weapons from the scene. Numerous complaints regarding the restaurant opposite Agrasen High School have been filed in the past, citing instances of robbery and intimidation by individuals with criminal backgrounds in the vicinity.
