Pune: Young Man Arrested For Killing Girlfriend’s Mother For Opposing Relationship
Pashan, 21st January 2024: In a shocking turn of events, a chilling incident has been uncovered where a young man allegedly strangled his girlfriend’s mother to death with a belt due to opposition to their relationship. The grim incident transpired in a society on Pashan-Sus Road.
Chatushringi police station team has arrested the accused, identified as Shivanshu Dayaram Gupta, a 23-year-old resident of Pratiknagar, Yerwada.
The victim has been identified as Varsha Kshirsagar, a 58-year-old resident of a society on Pashan-Sus Road, Pune.
The motive behind the crime was reportedly rooted in Shivanshu’s anger towards Varsha for opposing his romantic involvement with her daughter.
According to police complaint filed by the 22-year-old girl, Shivanshu had been romantically involved for the past seven months. However, recent disputes had strained their relationship, leading her to decide against continuing their association. Varsha, the victim, had cautioned Shivanshu against pursuing a relationship with her daughter.
Shivanshu allegedly visited the society around the midnight of January 17th, engaging in a heated argument with Varsha. The altercation escalated, resulting in the accused strangling Varsha to death with a belt of their dog. Initially reported as a sudden death, further investigation uncovered the heinous crime.
The grief-stricken daughter filed a formal complaint with the Chathushringi police station, leading to the prompt arrest of Shivanshu. Police Inspector Jagannath Jankar is conducting further investigation.
