Pune: Young Man Attacked In Shirur Over Social Media Post Against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar; Investigation Underway
Shirur, 31st March 2025: A shocking incident of a fatal assault on a young man has come to light in Shirur. The attack allegedly stemmed from a dispute over a social media post containing derogatory remarks against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The incident occurred on Sunday (30th March) around 5:15 pm near Nakshatra Building on Shirur-Ramling Road.
Following the attack, the Shirur police have registered a case against four individuals. The complaint was filed by Vaibhav Santosh Bhosale (24), a resident of Pawar Mala, Shirur. Based on his statement, the police have booked Roshan Devre (full name and address unknown, from Nashik) and three unidentified accomplices.
According to the police, the accused had created a fake social media account under Bhosale’s name on 8th January. They used this account to post objectionable content against Dr. Ambedkar on the Bhimsena Maharashtra Group, which led to a heated dispute. Under the pretense of resolving the conflict, the accused called Bhosale to meet them but instead assaulted him.
On the day of the incident, Roshan Devre and his associates summoned Bhosale to the location. During the conversation, they suddenly launched a violent attack. Devre punched and kicked Bhosale and threatened him to hand over his mobile phone. When Bhosale refused, Devre allegedly threatened to kill him.
One of the attackers struck Bhosale’s right arm with an iron rod, while another hit him on the head with a fighter tool, causing serious injuries. A third assailant whipped him on the back with a blue cable. Bhosale sustained severe injuries and rushed to the police station to file a complaint.
A case has been registered at the Shirur police station, and further investigation is underway under the guidance of Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale.
