Pune: Youth Cheated Of Rs 1.66 Lakh Under Pretext Of Foreign Job; 72 Others Also Duped

Pune, January 24, 2021: A youth was cheated of Rs 1.66 lakh under the pretext of getting a job abroad. A case has been registered against the director of a private company at the Vimantal police station.

The accused in the case are Rakshit Gautambhai Patel, a resident of Baroda and Ruby Kumari Sushilkumar Poddar of Viman Nagar. Amit Vijay Sarode of Mangalwar Peth has lodged a complaint against them.

According to the police, Sarode had registered his resume on a website to get a job abroad. After that, the accused Patel and Poddar contacted Sarode on his mobile number. They told him that there are job opportunities in Canada. The accused told Sarode that he would have to pay a total of Rs 1,66,000 for airfare, registration fee, medical check-up and the visa fee.

Sarode was given a fake letter of appointment from the company as well as a fake letter from the Government of Canada. Meanwhile, when asked about the job, Patel and Poddar gave vague answers. Sarode lodged a complaint with the police after it was discovered that fraud had taken place. Preliminary investigations have revealed that 72 people, including Sarode and his friend, were cheated.
