Pune: Youth Congress Distributes ‘Melody’ at Petrol Pump to Protest Fuel Price Hike
Pune, 23rd May 2026: Youth Congress workers on Saturday staged a symbolic protest against rising inflation and increasing fuel prices in Pune by distributing “Melody” chocolates to citizens at a petrol pump near Goodluck Chowk.
The protest, organised by the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress, was aimed at highlighting the impact of rising petrol and diesel prices and the increasing cost of essential commodities on common citizens.
Using the slogan “Melody is sweet, but inflation has made people’s lives bitter,” Youth Congress workers sought to draw attention to the rising prices of LPG cylinders, edible oil, milk, vegetables and house rents, which they said were severely affecting household budgets.
Speaking during the protest, Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress media wing president Akshay Jain criticised the Centre over inflation and fuel price hike.
“Today, the common citizens are burdened by rising inflation and fuel prices. The central government is only making announcements and giving assurances, but people are not getting any real relief. The rising prices of petrol, diesel, gas and daily essentials have completely disturbed the budgets of middle-class and poor families,” Jain said.
He added that the Youth Congress would continue to raise public issues through protests and campaigns and urged the government to take immediate measures to control inflation and reduce fuel prices.
The organisation also demanded concrete steps from the Centre to provide relief to citizens affected by the rising cost of living.
Among those present during the protest were Prathamesh Bagwe, Ganesh Ubale, Bhushan Ranbhare, Meghshyam Dharmavat, Dilip Deshmukh, Nehal Deshmukh, Bhavika Raka, Vishwajeet Jadhav, Satyajeet Birajdar, Vivek Kadu, Yash Kolte, Vikrant Dhotre, Adv Suraj Jamadar, Tejas Bansode and Prasanna More.
