Pune: Youth Falls In Quarry While Saving A Cat, Fire Brigade Comes To Rescue

Pune, 13th January 2022: A young man who had fallen into a 70 feet deep quarry on Vetal hill while saving a cat, was rescued by the Pune Fire Brigade and admitted to the hospital.

The man has been identified as Ramdas Ubhe (24), a resident of Mhatobanagar, Kothrud. His leg was fractured. He has also sustained injuries on the head.

According to the information provided by the fire brigade, Ubhe along with his two sisters had come for a morning walk on Vetal hill. At around 7 am, he lost his balance in an attempt to rescue a cat on a hillside and fell into the quarry that is 70-80 feet deep.

After getting information, the fire brigade team rushed to the spot however, their vehicle could not reach the area. They took a small van to the spot.

Ubhe had fallen on the bushes and water. He was unable to walk due to an injury in his leg. The young man was approached by firefighters with the help of a rope. Some went through the water. By then 108 ambulance had arrived. Firefighters put the young man on a stretcher and then he was lifted out of the water. He has since been admitted to the hospital.

The rescue operation team included Fire Officer Rajesh Jagtap, Driver Amol Shinde, Vijay Shinde, Tandel Sachin Aywale, Rajesh Kulkarni, and jawan Sachin Waghole, Shailesh Davane, Jitendra Kumbhar, Pravin Rahate, Pandharinath Ubhe, Sanjay Bhavekar, Prakashdaji Kmable, Shubham Golhar and Hemant Kamble.
