Pune: Youth Kills Live-in Partner By Pouring Acid, Setting Her On Fire In Beed District

Pune/Beed, November 15, 2020: A 22-year-old woman succumbed to injuries during treatment today after her live-in partner had thrown acid on her and later set her on fire after pouring petrol.

The incident took place on Saturday early morning at a secluded place in Beed district. Nanded police have detained the 25-year-old youth and he will be handed over to Beed police for further investigation.

According to police, Avinash Rajure of Shelgaon in Deglur taluka of Nanded district had a love affair with the woman from the same village. They were living together in Pune. Rajure worked at a private company in Ranjangaon MIDC. On the occasion of Diwali, both of them had left Pune for the village on a two-wheeler on Friday. Rajure parked the bike on the roadside near Yelambaghat in Beed district around 3 am on Saturday. He took her to a ditch away from the road under the pretext of resting there but later threw acid on her. He then poured petrol and set her on fire and fled from there.

The young woman screamed for help. However, as it was early morning, no one was able to come to her rescue. The girl, who sustained about 60 percent burn injuries, had been lying there for 12 hours. At about 3 pm, a motorist heard her voice and contacted the police. The injured girl was later admitted to the district hospital. However, she died during treatment there today morning.

Superintendent of Police (Beed district) Raja Ramaswamy said that an FIR has been registered by Neknoor police station, Beed police, based on the statement given by the girl. Officials from Nanded police have detained the accused. He will be handed over to Beed police for further investigation. The motive behind is still not clear.
