Pune: Youth Performs Bike Stunts on Highway; Pimpri Chinchwad Police Dodge Responsibility Over Jurisdiction Confusion

Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th May 2025: A video of a youth performing dangerous stunts on an electric two-wheeler on the busy Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway has sparked outrage, not only for the reckless act but also for the apparent evasion of responsibility by local police.
The incident, which occurred near the Punawale and Tathawade areas, has revealed a troubling gap in law enforcement as police stations involved have refused to act, citing jurisdictional limitations.
The youth, seen riding a vehicle bearing registration number MH 05 ZD 9681, was filmed doing high-risk, movie-style stunts in full public view. When questioned on camera, he casually identified himself as being from Madhya Pradesh and showed complete disregard for the law. The person filming the video invited him to report to Wakad Police Station, to which the youth nonchalantly replied “will do” before continuing the stunts.
The video has not only raised alarms over public safety but also cast a shadow over the effectiveness of local policing. When contacted by Punekar News, both Ravet and Wakad Police Stations deflected responsibility, each claiming the incident did not fall within their jurisdiction. The areas of Punawale and Tathawade lie on the border between both police stations, and the lack of prompt action has sparked concerns over accountability in such critical zones.
Despite the initial reluctance, both police stations have stated that they will look into the matter after properly determining which jurisdiction the incident falls under. However, the youth’s brazen disregard for the law and the authorities’ inaction have prompted serious questions about the state of law enforcement in Pimpri Chinchwad.
