Pune: Youths Chose Robbery As A Source Of Income After Losing Their Jobs, Arrested By Crime Branch

Pune, 18th July 2022: Investigation by the Crime Branch of Pune city police has revealed that two youths who were painters started the business of theft after losing their jobs.

As many as 12 mobile phones have been seized from them and seven theft cases have been solved. The action was taken by Crime Branch Unit 3.

 

The arrested have been identified as Raj Anganuram Gautam (26), a resident of Katraj and Vijay Shivmurat Ram Kumar (20), a resident of Katraj.

 

Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Sanjiv Kalbe, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Anita More laid a trap and arrested the duo. After questioning them, 12 stolen mobile phones and a bike totally worth Rs 2.16 lakh were seized from their possession.

 

Police said that the accused had stolen phones from areas under Alankar, Kondhwa, Sinhagad Road, Chatushrungi and Hinjewadi police stations.

 

“When these two were thoroughly investigated, they told the purpose of the theft. Both were doing the work as a painter. They used to paint in different places including houses and shops. But, they lost this job. They chose robbery as a way of income to live”, said Inspector More.
