Pune, Maharashtra, January 11, 2022: ZF India Pvt Ltd., today dedicated a traffic signal system to the traffic police department at Chakan, Pune, as a part of the Traffic Safety Week. These traffic signal systems, placed at two critical junctures in Chakan, will help alleviate the burden on the commuters and the traffic police. The HP square and the Endurance square often needed traffic wardens to spend up to 3 hours every evening regulating traffic manually as these are infamously the bottleneck areas for commuter traffic into and out of Chakan Industrial area.

These gridlocked traffic conditions cause additional stress on employees in manufacturing facilities in Chakan, with the loss of time. The gridlock also puts an extra share of the burden on the area traffic warden and at risk with errant drivers. The traffic backup created due to errant drivers often caused commuters a loss of more than 40 minutes at these junctions.

The dedication of the traffic signal system is part of the ZF India Pvt Ltd. CSR initiative, where we promote safety and awareness on the road, pedestrian, and traffic conditions.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ms Prerna Katte, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Nandkishore Bhosale Patil, Snr. PI Arvind Pawar, and PI Mr. Macchindra Adling, all graced the dedication ceremony.

Mr. KV Suresh, President ZF India Pvt Ltd., said, “ZF values safety of commuters and pedestrians. A part of our CSR endeavour is to promote safety, and the loss of person-hours caused at these two major junctions in and out of Chakan was a key driver for this dedication. We look forward to easing these traffic systems’ gridlock conditions and their resulting stress. We are happy to be a part of the larger traffic safety initiative during the Road Safety Week and hope this dedication makes Chakan roads safer and more pleasurable for commuters in Chakan.”

ACP Ms. Prerna Katte said,” Chakan is a bustling and important industrial area in Pune. The number of world-class industries and the number of people employed here make it critical to have a traffic flow that facilitates easy commute. I want to thank ZF India Pvt. Ltd, for this great start to the alleviation of traffic issues and hope that this initiative with its positive impact, can give us better traffic management with the signal systems.”

ACP Mr. Nandkishore Bhosale Patil noted, “ZF India has started this year off with a good initiative. This square and the next have always been an important junction for traffic. This will ease the traffic stress for not just the commuters but also the adjoining companies. I wish that such good initiatives continue under the CSR arm of the companies around this area, making a difference to the people in and around the area.”

Snr. PI Mr. Arvind Pawar stressed on the need for more companies to join in and make a societal difference by going to the grass roots of the issue. He noted that work done by ZF India Pvt Ltd., under its CSR initiative with the traffic will help ease commuter woes and help the traffic police utilize its resources in an optimal manner.

ZF India Pvt Ltd. dedicates these signals to the Traffic Police Chakan and would also extend heartfelt thanks to their dedication and hard work in easing the commute and traffic conditions in Chakan. Last year, ZF India Pvt Ltd. dedicated a part of its CSR fund to educating school children on basic traffic safety in neighbouring schools and the need to follow traffic rules.
