Pune Zilla Parishad Approves New Names For Velhe Taluka And Malavli Station

Pune, 23rd November 2021: Velhe taluka in Pune district should be renamed as Rajgad and Malavli railway station in Maval taluka should be named after Ekvira Devi in Karla.

After approval by the Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP), now the resolutions will be sent to the Maharashtra state government and Central government for further approval, said ZP president Nirmala Pansare.

Vice President Ranjit Shivtare moved a resolution to change the name of Velhe taluka. Raja Shivaji Gramin Vikas Mandal had demanded this from Shivtare. Members of all political parties in the Zilla Parishad supported the resolution which was passed n passed unanimously. Amol Nalawade and Dinkar Dharpale from Velhe taluka thanked all the members for approving the resolution.

Ekvira Devi temple at Karla in Maval taluka is a famous place of worship. There is a railway station at Malavli in this taluka. Zilla Parishad member Nitin Marathe moved a resolution demanding that the station be named after Ekvira Devi. Marathe said that more than 100 gram panchayats in this taluka have made the demand.
