Pune ZP Proposes Monument To Remember Staff Who Passed Away On Duty Due To Covid

Pune, 7th October 2022: 35 employees and officials of the Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) lost their lives due to Covid. They were on active duty during the pandemic, either serving in hospitals or providing health extension services. It is due to their efforts that rural areas of Pune experienced lower mortality rates and thousands of lives could be saved.
“Pune Zilla Parishad deeply mourns the loss of all lives. To pay our respects to them, Pune Zilha Parishad is proposing a monument on the Zilla Parishad premises. We have drawn inspiration from the Police Department and the Defence Forces who have built such memorials to remember their staff who lost their lives in active service of the nation,” Ayush Prasad, CEO of Pune Zilla Parishad, said.
A committee has been formed to finalise the design. The committee would seek all permissions from the State Government of Maharashtra to utilise public lands in Zilha Parishad Premises, the District Collector Office, Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune City Police.
