Hadapsar, 22nd December 2025: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, in association with the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora, has entered the Asia Book of Records for creating the tallest Christmas tree made entirely from waste materials. The record-setting installation was unveiled at Amanora Park Town in Pune, marking a significant blend of sustainability, community participation and environmental awareness.

The Christmas tree was constructed using recycled newspapers and other repurposed materials collected from residents of the township. Organisers said the initiative aimed to highlight the principles of a circular economy by transforming household waste into a large-scale eco-art installation.

The record attempt turned into a community-led celebration, with residents actively contributing materials and participating in the event. The unveiling ceremony featured a children’s drawing competition, live music performances and Bollywood dance routines, creating a festive atmosphere while reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility.

Speaking at the event, Rotary Club of Pune Amanora president D.D. Mishra said the project was driven by shared commitment and teamwork between the Rotary Club and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank. He noted that the installation was not merely about achieving a record, but about promoting sustainable living and environmental protection through visible action.

Importantly, the initiative is expected to have a long-term social impact. According to the Rotary Club, plans are underway to auction or sell the record-breaking Christmas tree to corporate sponsors or interested buyers. The funds raised will be used to support underprivileged children and help re-enrol school dropouts who discontinued their education due to financial constraints.

By converting waste into a record-setting structure and then into educational support, the organisers aim to link environmental sustainability with social upliftment, creating value beyond the festive season.

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank said the initiative aligns with its broader focus on financial inclusion and social responsibility, while the Rotary Club of Pune Amanora reiterated its commitment to community welfare, education and sustainable development.
