Pune’s biggest COVID Care Centre established in Viman Nagar

Pune, July 17, 2020: The biggest hospital for treatment of Coronavirus Disease (COVID19) patients has been built in Viman Nagar. The facility at the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building has 3,200 beds, along with separate accommodation arrangements for patients and doctors as well.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials stated that there was no major COVID Care Centre in eastern Pune, hence this facility has been established in Viman Nagar.

Pune Deputy Mayor Saraswati Shendge, Leader of the House Dheeraj Ghate, former Standing Committee chairman Yogesh Mulik, anti-encroachment department head Madhav Jagtap, corporators Rahul Bhandare, Arjun Jagtap, Mahesh Galande, and Assistant Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Bankar and other officials inspected the facility yesterday.


Speaking about the centre, Bankar said that there are 700 flats and each flat will have five beds.  “We are also providing ventilators, oxygen and other facilities. The patients will be categorised according to mild and severe symptoms. Food will be provided by Jain Sanghatana and ISKCON,” Bankar said.
