Pune’s night school students shine in HSC exam 2020

Pune, July 17, 2020: Working in the day and studying in the night, Pune’s night school students beat all the odds to flourish in the Maharashtra’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination. The results of which were declared by the Maharashtra state board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Thursday. Saraswati Vidya Mandir Sanstha’s Poona Night High School and Shrimant Dagdushet Halwai Public Ganapati Trust Junior College’s Commerce branch has a pass percentage of 81.42 percent this year.

The students work during the daytime to support their family and study at night. They have done remarkably well in the 12th standard examination.

A native of Sangameshwar Nivli in Ratnagiri district, Omkar Bane topped in his school by securing a 79.84 percent in commerce stream. He had come to Pune after Std X to support his family financially. Bane had enrolled into the night school to continue his education and worked as an office boy in a private office on the Pune-Satara road.

Pallavi Jadhav, who works as a tele-caller at a private company in Swargate, has stood the second position in the school by scoring 73 percent. She said, “my mother works as a housekeeping staff. We are three siblings. Helping my mother financially is satisfying.” Chinmay Mokashi, who has been studying in night school since his Std VIII, has scored 74.61 per cent. These students were guided by the principal Avinash Takwale.
