Pune’s Dattawadi Police Station Renamed As Parvati Police Station
Dattawadi, 16th June 2023: In response to repeated demands from citizens, Dattawadi Police Station in Pune has undergone a name change. The Maharashtra state government has approved the proposal, and the police station will now be known as Parvati Police Station.
Situated in the Parvati Tekdi area under the Pune Police Commissionerate, the Dattawadi Police Station had caused confusion among residents due to its close proximity to the Dattawadi Chowki. The similar names of the two establishments had resulted in notoriety and misidentification issues. To address these concerns, local residents requested a name change for Dattawadi Police Station, considering the historical and cultural significance of Parvati Hill in the area.
The state government, recognizing the importance of the citizens’ appeal, granted approval to the renaming proposal on June 15. As a result, the police station formerly known as Dattawadi will now be officially referred to as Parvati Police Station. This decision aims to eliminate confusion and align the station’s name with the rich heritage associated with the Parvati Hill area.
