Pune’s Famous Hockey Player William D’Souza No More

Khadki, March 24, 2021: Pune’s renowned hockey player William Manuel D’Souza passed away on Wednesday at YCM Hospital in Pimpri. He was a resident of Khadki Bazar and is survived by his wife, mother, and two daughters.

D’Souza was one of the best hockey players in Maharashtra. He has been the coach of Hockey Maharashtra for over a decade. He was also the head coach at Priyadarshini Sports Center in Khadki.

Many hockey players coached under his supervision represented teams at state and national levels. He encouraged many hockey players, including Pune-based players Dhanraj Pillay and Vikram Pillay.

D’Souza’s sudden demise has come as a shock to many athletes and social activists in the Khadki area.

Many people expressed that he was a good player who always had good relations with all the members of society and always encouraged children on the playground. They expressed their grief that such a good person is no more.

Social activists from the Khadki area including Manish Anand and others were present at the funeral. D’Souza was buried at United Indian Cemetery in Dapodi.

President of Mulniwasi Muslim Manch Anjum Inamdar, Sabir Shaikh, Amjad Shaikh, Imtiaz Patel, Asif Shaikh, Riaz Inamdar, and Nadeem Chaudhary performed the final rites.
