Pune’s Laxmi Road to Host Pedestrian Day, PMPML Bus Routes to be Temporarily Altered
Pune, 9th December 2024: Tomorrow, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will celebrate Pedestrian Day, as it does every year on 11th December. On this day, vehicular movement will be restricted on Laxmi Road, located in the heart of Pune. Given that many Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses operate along this route, temporary changes to bus routes have been implemented. The PMPML administration has informed us that these changes will be in effect from 10 AM to 5 PM.
The route changes are as follows:
1) Buses on Route Numbers 55, 58, and 59 travelling to Shanipar will operate as usual via Kumthekar Road. However, buses departing from Shanipar will take a detour via Appa Balwant Chowk, Narayan Peth, and Alka Talkies before heading to their destinations.
2) Buses on Route Number 57 travelling towards Pune Railway Station will follow the route of Bus Number 94, passing through Narayan Peth to Alka Talkies Chowk before continuing to their destination.
3) Punyadasham Bus Routes 7 and 9, along with Routes 81, 144, 144A, 144C, and 283, will follow their regular routes when travelling to Pune Railway Station. However, Bus Route Number 94, coming from Pune Railway Station, will take a detour via Narayan Peth to Alka Chowk before proceeding to its destination.
4) Buses on Route Number 174 travelling to the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla from Pune Railway Station will follow the regular route up to the Pune City Post Office, then turn right towards Appa Balwant Chowk. From there, they will follow Bus Number 94 via Narayan Peth to Alka Talkies before resuming their regular route. Buses coming from NDA to Pune Railway Station will operate on their regular route.
5) Buses on Route Numbers 117 and 202, travelling from Hadapsar to Kothrud Depot/Warje Malwadi, will follow their regular route until the Pune City Post Office. After that, they will turn right towards Appa Balwant Chowk and follow Bus Number 94 via Narayan Peth to Alka Talkies before continuing their journey. There will be no changes for buses travelling from Kothrud Depot/Warje Malwadi to Hadapsar.
6) Buses on Route Number 68, travelling towards Upper Depot (Kondhwa), will follow their regular route. However, on the return journey from Kondhwa, they will divert via Lokmanya Tilak Road before proceeding to their destination.
